Interior

Like many sports cars, the front seats are comfortable, supportive and offer plenty of room for adults—even on long drives. Even though the 2020 Porsche 911 does have a larger cabin than last year’s model, the rear seats are only suitable for smaller adults or children. The luxurious interior is stylish and features open-pore Paldao wood trim and an embossed Porsche logo. Additional features include:

• A surprisingly quiet cabin, even at highway speeds;
• A retro-style mechanical center-placed tachometer;
• The five-gauge Porsche cluster with the 911’s dashboard arc;
• New touch-sensitive areas that replace the hard buttons that were once scattered across the dashboard;
• New interior door handles; and
• Toggle switches for stability control, hazards and optional equipment such as the front-end lift.

Technology

The 2020 Porsche 911 has plenty of standard and available technology including a standard eight-speaker audio system with satellite radio, dual-zone automatic climate control and the Porsche Communication Management. Additional standard and optional features include:

• Apple CarPlay;
• A 10.9-inch touchscreen;
• Two USB ports;
• A WiFi hotspot;
• Radio Plus;
• The optional Porsche Track Precision app;
• An optional sunroof; and
• An available 12-speaker Bose audio system or the available 13-speaker Burmester audio system.

Performance

The 3.0-liter engine in the 2020 Porsche 911 is a flat six twin-turbocharged engine. It makes 443 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 390 pound-feet of torque at 2,300 rpm. Engine features include VarioCam Plus timing and integrated dry sump lubrication. An eight-speed PDK automatic transmission with dual clutches transfers the power to the rear wheels. An all-wheel drive version is available. The rear-wheel drive version gets 20 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway, with a combined mpg of 23.

Safety

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety often do not rate sports cars, as was the case with the 2020 Porsche 911. The 911 has several safety features including standard front and rear parking sensors and a rearview camera. Additional standard and available safety features include:

• Forward collision warning;
• Pedestrian detection;
• Automatic emergency braking;
• Available night vision assist;
• Available adaptive cruise control;
• Available lane change assist;
• Available lane keeping assist;
• Available traffic sign recognition; and
